//Note: Do not edit this page yourself unless asked to.// ===== FreeBSD Developer Summit: Documentation Working Group ===== 6 October 2011 (Thursday 10:30 - 13:00), //schedule: TBD// ==== Overview ==== This working group will focus on improving the %%FreeBSD%% documentation set, both in terms of content as well as tool support and collaboration between doc committers. With the upcoming %%FreeBSD%% 9.0-RELEASE, we need to get the documentation into the right shape so that it accurately reflects and documents the features of this release. Also, we want to continue some of the stuff we discussed at the BSDCan DevSummit and talk about what progress has been made since then. We encourage every documentation committer or member of a %%FreeBSD%% translation project to attend, even if they have never been to any of these working groups in the past. If you would like to participate, contact either one of the chair persons below and CC devsummit@. We will then add you to this page. Please include a list of things you want to talk about or the areas you are interested in. This helps us in planning the session and to bring people together with common interests. We will try to bring in people who cannot attend in person via videoconference or chat tools. Notes during the session will be published later on for the whole community to see what we discussed. ==== Goals ==== In particular, we would like to cover the following topics. This is not an exhaustive list and if you feel there is something missing that you want to talk about, contact one of the session chairs and we will include your topic here. Note that the numbering of the topics does not represent an ordering or importance indication of any kind, but rather a reference to the second table with the "topic of interest" column. ==== Topics ==== ^ # ^ Topic description ^ | 1 | Status of the CVS to SVN conversion efforts | | 2 | Status of the %%DocBook%% SGML to XML conversion efforts | | 3 | Work on the %%FreeBSD%% handbook and other documents that needs to be done before FreeBSD 9.X, with special focus on the new installation chapter | | 4 | Publication of the handbook as ebooks and print-editions | | 5 | Regular doc sprints/talks on IRC | | 6 | Tool support for documentation work (pootle, etherpad, etc.) | | 7 | Revisit, assign, and resolve items on the DocIdeaList | //Note: General presentations about work you have done that does not require further discussions should be submitted for the %%FreeBSD%% Developers' Summit track at// //%%EuroBSDcon%% (see general developer summit page).// ==== Attending ==== In order to attend you need register for the developer summit as well as by email for the session and be confirmed by the working group organizer. Follow the guidelines described on the main page or what you received by email. For questions or if in doubt ask the session chairs, Dru Lavigne and Benedict Reuschling. There are 20 seats. **Please do NOT add yourself here.** Your name will appear automatically once you received the confirmation email. You need to put your name on the general developer summit attendees list though. ^ # ^ Name ^ Username / Affiliation ^ Topics of Interest ^ Notes ^ | 1 | DruLavigne | dru | | Session chair (1/2) | | 2 | BenedictReuschling | bcr | | Session chair (2/2) | | 3 | HirokiSato | hrs / doceng | presentation | | | 4 | GavinAtkinson | gavin | | | | 5 | NiclasZeising | Erandir | | | | 6 | GáborKövesdán | gabor | %%DocBook%% XML / SVN repo layout | via videoconference | | 7 | SimonNielsen | simon | SVN repo layout | via videoconference (not sure yet) | | 8 | WilkoBulte | wilko | | | | 9 | GlenBarber | gjb | | via videoconference | ==== Results ==== ----
