On %%FreeBSD%% 11 and higher it is necessary to set [[https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=vt&sektion=4&manpath=FreeBSD+11.1-RELEASE+and+Ports|hw.vga.textmode]] in the boot [[https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=loader&sektion=8&apropos=0&manpath=FreeBSD+11.1-RELEASE+and+Ports|loader(8)]].

Tested with:
  * %%FreeBSD%% 11.1-RELEASE i386 disc1
  * %%FreeBSD%% 10.3-RELEASE i386 dvd1

==== Post-installation tweaks ====

After installation it is necessary to drop into shell before rebooting and add the following hints to ''%%/boot/device.hints%%'':
