I hold a BSc in [http://www.ece.ualberta.ca computer engineering] from the [http://www.ualberta.ca University of Alberta], and am finishing off a BA in political economy from [http://www.athabascau.ca Athabasca University]. I currently pay the bills as a system administrator / programmer for the U of A's [http://www.cs.ualberta.ca CS department], and will be returning to the U of A as a student in fall 2005.

On the technical side, I've had some experience in building embedded systems (e.g. [http://www.ece.ualberta.ca/~cdjones/courses/EE552/EE_552_Final_Report_Web.pdf a networked device on an FPGA] and a [http://www.ece.ualberta.ca/~cdjones/courses/CMPE582/falconReport_Appendices.pdf digital audio effects processor] on a Motorola MCore with replaceable effects stored on hardware cartridges). Non-technically, I've been entirely too involved with student government, debating, and political commentary for my own good.
