It is regarded as "one of the most unusual hotels in the Ruhr area". The nine guest rooms and suites as well as two meeting and seminar rooms are equipped with extensive technical facilities to conduct meetings and seminars on the topics of Linux and free software. The hotel and seminar rooms and the surrounding park are networked via Ethernet and wireless LAN. During work days the Linuxhotel offers Linux and free software courses (e.g. %%FreeBSD%%, %%OpenBSD%%, pf, etc.). ===== Logistics ===== The Linuxhotel is located in the city of Essen. The next airports are Düsseldorf (DUS), Köln/Bonn (CGN) and Dortmund (DTM). From there you can reach Essen by train. Use this page (Google translate) to check how to get there. ==== Accommodation ==== The Linuxhotel offers a maximum of 27 beds for accommodation. If the weather is nice we plan to have a BBQ in the hotel's surrounding park on Saturday evening. In case of bad weather there's a restaurant which offers home cooking (i.e., solid, plain, but tasty meals like Schnitzel, etc.): http://www.hausgrossjung.de/ Most people seem to leave on Sunday, so it is possible to have a simple bread and butter dinner at the hotel. ===== Links ===== * Linuxhotel * Ruhr Metropolis * VRR - Train and Bus (bus) * Düsseldorf Airport (airports) * Dortmund Airport (airports) * Deutsche Bahn (railway) ===== Travel coordination ===== You can co-ordinate travel here: ^ Name ^ Login ^ 22nd ^ 23th ^ 24th ^ Breakfast Sat. ^ Breakfast Sun. ^ Meal Requests ^ Notes ^ | BenedictReuschling | bcr | yes (afternoon) | yes | yes | yes | yes | | With Allan from FRA by train | | KristofProvost | kp | yes (afternoon) | yes | yes | yes | yes | | | | LarsEngels | lme | yes (afternoon) | yes | yes | yes | yes | | | | FlorianSmeets | flo | yes (afternoon) | yes | yes | yes | yes | | | | AllanJude | allanjude | - | - | - | - | - | none | | | ChristianBrueffer | brueffer | yes (afternoon) | yes | yes | yes | yes | none | | | JillesTjoelker | jilles | yes (evening) | yes | yes | yes | yes | none | with Rene and Bernard | | PhilipJocks | | maybe late evening | yes | yes | no | no | | | | ReneLadan | rene | yes (evening) | yes | yes | yes | yes | none | driving with Bernard | | BernardSpil | brnrd | yes (evening) | yes | yes | TBD | TBD | TBD | | | EdSchouten | ed | yes (evening) | yes | yes | TBD | TBD | TBD | Marjolijn (my +1) is coming as well! | | RodrigoOsorio | rodrigo | yes (evening) | yes | yes | yes | yes | | Arrival 22/06 22:16 ESSEN HBF / Dep 24/06 17:49 ESSEN HBF | | BaptisteDaroussin | bapt | yes (afternoon) | yes | yes | yes | yes | | Riding from paris | Developers are welcome to invite guests to attend the developer summit, subject to their tolerance for ceaseless hours of kernel-hacking and availability of space at the venue. ===== Room coordination ===== There are only a limited number of rooms, mostly twin and 3 bed rooms.
