This is an old revision of the document!
This page describes non-trivial stuff on porting boost libraries to FreeBSD. By intent this page should contain current status of Boost ports, a list of decisions, rationales and other things like that.
Current State
- The port is out of sync with boost.org, the port version is 1.39 and upstream is 1.41.
- The update request is filed. The patch is here
- There are build failures with other ports (not listed here) encountered during an exp-run. The work for correcting them is in progress.
Ports successfully built with 1.41

- x11-toolkits/gigi
Future Efforts
- Fix build failures encountered during the exp-run
- Wait for the patch to be checked into the version control
Past Efforts
- File an update request
- boost is patched, this allows x11-toolkits/gigi to build
- graphics/aqsis, net-p2p/rblibtorrent are patched
- The SPARC64 issue is completely resolved
- Some ports depending on boost were re-build using 1.41 (one port fails)
- The patch for SPARC64 platform is created and tested (one test fails)
- Boost.Pyste is extracted into a separate port
- diff for updating ports to 1.41.0 is ready
Known Issues
- Boost.Test report less details for SIGBUS, SIGCHLD, SIGSEGV and SIGILL on FreeBSD than it might on other UNIX-like platform. The reason is detailed information is not available on FreeBSD 6x. The issue is temporary.
- Boost.Math does not support long double version of functions, because related functionality only presents in FreeBSD-8.
