Hi I am working on CAM Target Layer on Freebsd 11 Current. This project is about adding virtual CD drive and Tape drive features in CTL. I have installed Freebsd 11 Current ISO file on VM player.

REPORTS of Week 1: I started my week with reading CTL, CTLD, ISCSICTL code in head/ branch of freebsd. I tried playing with ctld and iscsictl command using localhost as both initiator and target. I took help of logger (log_debugx in CTLD) and (xo_emit() in iscsictl) to understand the flow of both.

It helped me understanding that at what point ctld sends data and connection to KERNEL CTL. Now i am reading ctl.c code of head/sys/ctl/ branch. My task is to search the area/lines in ctl.c where it decides the type of LUN (Disk or processor etc).

My plan is to search these areas and add code for cdrom there along with disk and processor code. PLUS I have few ideas in mind to extend the ctl.conf and ctld code to make ctl.c working easy for cdrom emulation.

Few Problems which i faced in this whole week 1. During make buildworld in head/, it threw some error : make[1]: “/usr/home/neeraj/head/Makefile.inc1” line 1757: Malformed conditional (${MK_CRYPT} != “no”) make[1]: “/usr/home/neeraj/head/Makefile.inc1” line 1782: Malformed conditional (${MK_KERBEROS} != “no”) make[1]: “/usr/home/neeraj/head/Makefile.inc1” line 1802: Malformed conditional (${MK_GSSAPI} != “no”) make[1]: “/usr/home/neeraj/head/Makefile.inc1” line 1806: Malformed conditional (${MK_KERBEROS} != “no”)

This error came because Makefile includes from </usr/share/mk> With the help of mentor Edward, i was able to find the reason of this error. It was because
