This is an old revision of the document!

Over time, various contributors have asked to be able to be able to access systems to be able to test changes to ports on various buildenvs.

This page is a snapshot of works in progress.

  • Port maintainers and committers are encouraged to install their own Ports Tinderbox for pre-commit testing. (The link contains pointers on how to set it up, and also to the mailing list.) However, most people only have one buildenv available. (It is possible to cross-build i386 on amd64, however.)
  • Therefore, we are currently looking for people to volunteer systems that people can access. (See details below.)
  • ChrisRees has a limited number of spaces on an i386 Tinderbox for light use (read: no more committers!)

Right now the ports tinderbox code is really not set up for use by multiple persons. A great project would be to generalize the UI to understand the concept of multiple users. To be efficient, the implementation would probably want to steal the code from the pointyhat scripts that does ZFS replication of the src and ports trees, so that each user does not need to keep their own checked-out trees.
