RNSanchez's notes and plans
My name is Ricardo Nabinger Sanchez, and I'm a Computer Science student (3 semesters to finish). I live in south-Brasil {flag-br} (-0300 GMT timezone). Feel free to contact me even if it's not related to FreeBSD.

Interests:
- Operating Systems Design and Implementation
- Network monitoring (RMON2) and management (SNMP)
- Optimizations (reducing overhead)
Plans
Currently using, learning and trying to help with [http://people.freebsd.org/~harti/bsnmp/ BSNMPD] development, in contact with HartiBrandt and VictorCruceru.
My plans are to implement:
- [“EtherLike-MIB”] ([http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3635.txt RFC-3635])
- DISKSTORAGE-MIB
DISKSTORAGE-MIB should provide information with greater detail than what is available through [http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2790.txt HOSTRESOURCES-MIB], specifically to UNIX environments (perhaps BSD or even FreeBSD specific). It was not created yet, btw.
Remark: Must not interfere with ShteryanaShopova's tasks, which was accepted for Summer of Code.
More details to come, and also at proposta.txt], which is my original (and not selected) proposal for Google's Summer of Code 2006. I didn't updated (yet) my task tracker, but it is available at todo.html].
Patches
| [http://rnsanchez.wait4.org/FreeBSD/bsnmpd/fix_some_segfaults.diff contrib/bsnmp/gensnmpdef] (2006-05-30) | Fix some segfaults that occur when a required module is not found while processing user-requested modules. Others segfaults remain, as libsmi sometimes does not return NULL when some required module was not found. Perhaps a complete fix depends on a libsmi fix too. |
| [http://rnsanchez.wait4.org/FreeBSD/bsnmpd/remove_-MIB.diff ATM and NETGRAPH MIBs] (2006-05-30) | Fix “module BEGEMOT-{ATM,NETGRAPH}-MIB not found” for BEGEMOT-ATM-FREEBSD-MIB. HartiBrandt or VictorCruceru probably will come up with a better solution. :) |
