This is an old revision of the document!

Assume we have $1k for providing better NetPerf cluster infrastructure for testing existing support of FreeBSD/arm, FreeBSD/mips and FreeBSD/powerpc ports. It may or may not be true. Assume, however, that it's there.

We're talking about existing support. In other words: we're talking about a situation where a commiter wants to test his/her patch on ARM/MIPS and verify that FreeBSD is still booting.

Which boards would be the most beneficial for the project's developers?

While pondering the boards which we want to buy, please think of:

1) UART availability. This must be either normal UART or USB cable which just works with FreeBSD (USB cable hooked up between board and FreeBSD PC must give you valid working UART).

2) Ethernet. Just like UART, it must just work. Ideal candidate has U-boot with Ethernet support, which can fetch the FreeBSD kernel over the TFTP and FreeBSD port which can perform booting over NFS (FreeBSD must support board's Ethernet controller).

This is not a list yet. Candidates for now.
