My name is Michael Bushkov and I'm a 4th year student of the Applied Mathematics faculty of the Rostov State University, Russia. I've been working with FreeBSD for almost 3 years, because it is used almost everywhere in the University Computer Center, where I've been working since finishing school. The most serious project, I've contributed to FreeBSD, was the lookupd project. It was intended to be alternative to the nsswitch subsystem, but was used mostly because of its caching abilities.

During the Summer Of Code I'm going to make several patches for the libc library to extend nsswitch subsystem. I will also add caching ability to nsswitch by developing caching library and caching daemon. Here is the slightly corrected text of the proposal, that I've initially submitted to Google: NsswitchAndCachingOriginalProposal.
