The FreeBSD Project is pleased to participate in the Google Summer of Code 2018 program.

Timeline:
- March 12 - 27: Student application period open
- April 23: Successful applications announced
- April 23 - May 14: Community bonding starts
- May 14 - August 6: Coding
- June 11 - 15, 2018
- July 9 - 13: Evaluations
- August 6 - 14: Students Submit Code and Final Evaluations
- August 14 - 21: Final Evaluations: Mentors review student code.

FreeBSD maintains a page containing project ideas suitable for Summer of Code at SummerOfCodeIdeas, and a more generic IdeasPage. Students are welcome to take on projects from that page, or produce their own project ideas and plans.
