Timeline:

• March 12 - 27: Student application period open
• April 23: Successful applications announced
• April 23 - May 14: Community bonding starts
• May 14 - August 6: Coding
  • June 11th - 15th: Mid-term Evaluations #1
  • July 9th - 13th: Mid-term Evaluations #2
• August 6th - 14th: Students Submit Code and Final Evaluations
• August 14th - 21st: Final Evaluations: Mentors review student code.

FreeBSD maintains a page containing project ideas suitable for Summer of Code at SummerOfCodeIdeas, and a more generic IdeasPage. Students are welcome to take on projects from that page, or produce their own project ideas and plans.
