Securely Add A User
While every developer can add new developers directly to (e.g.) DevelopersGroup, MarkLinimon was told to do things differently due to security concerns.
- create the account on the wiki jail, using WikiName and email. (You must have privileges to do this.)
- null out the account_verification field in the created entry in /home/www/wiki/data/user/
- send email to the address stating “here is the new account iformation; new please go to the home page and click 'change my password'”
- only once they acknowledge that they have done that and received the email, add the account to the appropriate ACL (DevelopersGroup or ContributorsGroup).
This way, you make sure that whoever is claiming the account actually has that email. Otherwise, if you merely add a entry in the ACL list, any random person can immediatelly log in as that account and start making changes.
Configuration Changes
Note: This currently doesn't work, configuration is managed by clusteradm and auto deployed, so local changes are reverted – KubilayKocak 2020-06-21 13:40:33+1100
