For guest access to FreeBSD Host USB Devices:

To start services after VirtualBox Guest Additions installation, either:

• Restart FreeBSD, OR
• As root: service vboxservice start and service vboxguest start

If guest additions will be installed: set the guest to use VBoxSVGA.

For automatic configuration of X.org:

Xorg -configure

– then, to tell whether the video driver was automatically recognised:

grep vboxvideo /root/xorg.conf.new

With a good X.org configuration file in place and in use: the View menu of VirtualBox can be used for automatic resizing. With that option enabled, a change to the size of the VirtualBox window should cause a change to the size of the display in the FreeBSD guest.
